MEDIA RELEASE

The Albanese Government is building Australia’s future, investing $104,695 to upgrade the Barwon Heads Airport.

Airports are vital for regional communities, providing critical access to emergency healthcare, as well as commerce, industry, tourism and education.

Funded under Round 4 of the Regional Airports Program, this is one of nine airports across Victoria that will share in $4.5 million of funding.

The project will fund a reseal of damaged areas of runway and seal adjacent runup bays, shape and resurface the taxiway and install high fencing. The works will provide improved safety for aircraft, support all weather use and improve security of the facility.

This will support the continued use of the airport by recreational, tourism, charter and emergency and aeromedical air services.

Today’s announcement builds on the nearly $100 million that has already been delivered to support 194 projects under the first three rounds of the program.
